Information Technology Exchange

ITE is a 501(C)3 Non-profit Organization whose mission is to increase personal computer access, support and literacy. We fulfill this mission by working with business partners, non-profits, educators, and workforce developers to create sustainable results driven programs such as:

  • The PCs for MAINE Project - an alternative resource of low cost, high quality personal computers, training and technical support for individuals and families who need technology to acheive academic and career skills development objectives.  This resource also supports non-profit organizations, public libraries and schools;
  • eWaste Alternatives - Developed in partnership between ITE and Skills Inc (a Waterville, Maine non-profit), this social and environmental effort creates work opportunities for people with disabilities and recovers reusable technology from commercial donors for use in the PCs for MAINE project and other reuse efforts.
  • PC MEDIX - Computer consulting, repair and sales services provided to the general public. This  program provides paid professional development for ITE's technical staff, and the proceeds it generates fund ITE development, operational costs and PCs for MAINE scholarships.
ITE's most prominent contributor -the Great Bay Foundation of Yarmouth Maine recorded this interview with ITE Founder Chris Martin about how ITE began - Published Jan 2008
